About Me

Welcome everyone.  Nice to meet you.  I am a Scottish lass who has been transplanted around the world all the way to California.  I was born in Scotland, raised in South Africa and now I live in the High Desert city of Victorville, California.  It is not my most favorite place to live, but I make the most of it.  I am a "loves rainy days" kind of girl and living in the desert doesn't offer much of that lol.
I have been married for 28 years to my husband Brian.  We are complete polar opposites, but as the saying goes "opposites attract" so I can honestly say that seems to be the case with our long marriage.  We have two children - Kristin aged 27 years and Zachary aged 23 years.  Kristin has blessed me with three beautiful grandchildren.  There's Cameron who is 7, Cole who is 3 and Kenley who is 1.  They are gorgeous sweet children.  My son Zachary has no children and that is just fine for the time being.  He still has a lot to learn about himself and life before going down the "children" road lol.
Enough about the family - let's talk stitching.  I am an avid stitcher and quilter.  I started about 8 years ago, and I still have a lot to learn.  Don't get me wrong, I have come a long way but there's also a lot I don't know.  I continue to learn by my mistakes - a lot of trial and error going on in this house...lol.  I have my own sewing room.  When my daughter moved out, I quickly laid claim to her bedroom and transformed it into a quiet sewing retreat for myself.  There's nothing quite like shutting yourself away in your own quiet space.  Not only do I sew, but I recently discovered a passion for making cards, so my poor sewing room has been bombarded with paper products.  I realized the other day that I really need to get in there and organize, organize, organize.  I've been putting it off because I would rather be sewing or working on something pretty than spending the time cleaning and organizing.  Sometimes there just aren't enough hours in my day..lol.
My sewing room when its clean and organized lol
My passion is hand-stitched projects.  A few years back I took a class that taught Promise Stitch techniques and I completed a couple of quilts, which were all hand-stitched with much love.  I was so proud of myself.  I find it very relaxing to just sit down and hand sew.  Through the years I have created many a project - quilts, runners, pillows, pin cushions and more.  And I hope as I continue on this life journey that I can complete many more.  I have recently had some eye issues (diabetic related) that has caused my left eye to be blurry, so sometimes it takes me a little longer to complete things.  But with the help of a good Ott light and a little patience, I am carrying on

I will be adding and sharing projects that I am working on.  I hope you will come back and visit my blog often because you never know what you will find .  One of my favorite sayings is "Reach for the moon and if you miss you will land amongst the stars".  I am always striving to do better.  Sometimes I probably beat myself up too much when things don't work out as planned.  Sometimes I just need to step back and see that what I have completed is quite wonderful.

Have a great day all :-)
